Intuitive Voice Work

There is a way between voice and presence where information flows.
— Hazrat Inayat Khan

I support people to connect deeply with their voice, to learn ways to use it intuitively and in a way that feels good, honest and free. I firmly believe that the practice of liberating the voice cannot be separated from liberating ourselves from the the impacts of oppression on our bodies and souls.

As I’ve continued to devote myself to the ancient current that is voice and song, I am awed by how transformative, tender and healing it is to attune to our (literal) voices. The body knows. My voice, my song is born from the longing in my bones. The longing to connect with my ancestors. The longing for wholeness. The longing to be free. Singing is how I channel that longing. It is how I embody the wisdom and medicine within me. It is how I integrate and make meaning of my experiences.

My approach to this work is rooted in being raised in a musical family that sung harmonies together around the Shabbat table every week. It is shaped by experience praying at altars and in spiritual ceremony around the world and across traditions- chanting, healing, remembering and vibrating in community. I continue to learn about what it means to share my voice in a world that would often prefer I stay quiet. This work is rooted in healing and liberation.

I am here to affirm that it is your birthright as a human being to sing and sound freely and authentically. I am here to support you in connecting with your wholly unique voice and listening together for what is ready to move for you to feel more honest in your expression.

Sound and Song as Vehicles for Ancestral Healing and Reconnection:

Since time immemorial, people across tradition and culture have used music as a vehicle to transmit story, catalyze healing, and to connect with those who have come before. Human expression through song has the power to liberate on personal, ancestral and collective levels. The sound and songs our bones are yearning to be expressed. They are the keys to connect with our ancestors, to heal what has been forgotten and to serve as a lifeline our ancient memory. Given that many of our challenges with voice are intergenerational and rooted in things that are bigger than us (like social conditioning related to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief or inherited emotional responses to trauma) there may come a point in our work where I sense it would be helpful to do ancestral healing work. You of course get to decide whether to go in this direction. Some people get what they need from one voice session and other folks find that doing voice work in tandem with ancestral lineage repair healing is mutually beneficial.

Our whole being is music: our mind and our body, the nature in which we live, the nature that has made us, all that is beneath and around us, it is all music.
— Hazrat Inayat Khan

Sound is a tool for transformation and a portal for inspiration, resourcing and connection with our ancestors. Everything is vibration. We can attune to vibrations and frequencies that support healing and connection with the consciousness within and all around us.  Through sound, we can awaken the memory of our inherent dignity and belonging to life. We are each instruments in the orchestra of creation.

Some benefits of intuitive sound work may be: feelings of peace, calm, centeredness, increased self-awareness, relief of physical pain, emotional release, connection to a sense of collective consciousness, energetic balance, increased capacity and resilience to be with challenge or struggle.

My approach to this work is informed by my ongoing sound-studies and work as well what I continue to glean from my personal healing journey with chronic Lyme disease. I am inspired by and draw upon multiple spiritual traditions, healing cosmologies and modalities that all share threads of: earth reverence, mysticism, connection with benevolent spirits, guides and ancestors, attention to vibration, somatic awareness, sound as a tool for healing and communing with consciousness, ritual medicine and ceremony. Each session is unique and intuitively guided.

I especially love working with folks who want to deepen into devotional aspects of music and sound for personal practice and ritual facilitation, with a speciality in Jewish / Hebrew liturgy. I also offer sessions that weave together healing voice and ancestor work.

Held via zoom or in person in the SF Bay Area.

Every atom confesses by its tone, ‘my sole origin is sound.’
